Wireless Technology

Wireless Internet technology, also known as WiFi, is really
taking over the way people access the Internet and it has
become widely popular in a very short time. The reason for
this is it allows individuals to access the Internet via a
network hot spot without the use of cables or wires. The
signal is simply transferred through radio signals, which
makes connecting to the Internet via your computer in
different locations very easy.

Because of the ease of this technology and the broad range
of connectivity, many businesses, schools, restaurants,
cafes, airports and hotels are investing in the equipment
necessary to provide wireless Internet service to their
customers either free or at a low hourly cost. These
institutions have realized that students and business people
have the need to work in other areas other than just the
office or at school, and because of this technology is
taking over. One disadvantage for networks is that anybody
can log onto a wireless network as long as they are in
range, so if you want to protect your network from
unauthorized users you will need to use some form of
security.

Hot spots are relatively new, but are growing in acceptance
and popularity because of the incredible access it gives to
students, travelers, business people and the like. Some hot
spots are free, while others charge an hourly rate.
These days, if you go to an airport or hotel you will see
signs that say internet zone or hotspot and will either say
free or how to pay. Because of this evolution, individuals
are able to work and study wherever they are, which makes
traveling and working much easier and less downtime which is
very important.

Now, when you are traveling you will more than likely see
that the hotels and airports you are visiting have these
hotspots available. Businesses have realized how important
the internet is to students, travelers, business people, and
those just simply trying to stay in touch, and the hot spot
popularity are growing every day.

To get started, you will need an Internet connection, a
router, and then wireless cards for your respective
computers. The router allows the Internet signal to be
routed throughout the home and the wireless cards that each
computer has picks up the signal which eliminates the use of
wires. All of this equipment can be purchased in your local
computer store or online if you are looking for extra
discounts.

The things you will need to get started are a high speed
Internet connection, router, and wireless Internet cards for
all computers that need to access the Internet. The
equipment you need can easily be purchased in any computer
equipment store, or you can even buy the equipment online if
you want to look for additional discounts.

If you want to install wireless yourself you should simply
buy the recommended materials and then follow the
directions. There is a lot of help online that will guide
you through the process. However, if you dont feel like
dealing with the headache then simply hire a technician to
handle the whole process for you.

Finally, when you have wireless Internet installed in your
home or office, remember that you should take some
precautions to prevent your neighbors or other unauthorized
users from stealing your Internet. A virtual private network
or Internet Protocol Security will secure your network and
allow only authorized users to connect.
